Financial Assistance/Scholarships


A. Internal Sponsorships

1. Merit Scholarships for Bachelor Students

Merit scholarship is awarded to the Top Three position holders of each Examination Board in the year of admission.

Merit Scholarship is also offered to Top Three position holders in the merit list of NU admission merit list of each campuses.

The University awards certificates and cash prizes to those undergraduate students, who are the Top Three in their department. Students are selected from each of the four years of every degree program.

This scholarship is for four years of un-interrupted studies with standard courses (core and elective), labs and final year projects of the degree offered by the department in a semester to a batch with a specified number of total credit hours and is equal to the full tuition fee.

A student registering for less or more credit hours than the total specified number of credit hours shall not be eligible for Merit Scholarship. Student must not have failed, repeated or withdrawn from a course in that semester.

If there are more than one student in the same position, the next position will automatically be vanished or moved down depending on the number of students in one position.
Continuation of merit scholarship is subject to maintaining semester GPA of 3.0 or higher.

2. Study Loan

Realizing that fees may not be affordable for some of the students, FAST-NU arranges financial assistance in the form of interest-free study loans for bright indigent students.

3. Rules for Internal Sponsorships:

  1. Internal sponsorships are available for studying in regular semesters (spring and Fall).
    Following is the maximum number of semesters for which it can be availed.
    • Bachelors: 8 semesters
    • Masters: 4 semesters
    • PhD: 6 semesters
  2. It shall not be available for repeat or withdrawn courses. This implies that it is available for studying a course only once.
  3. It is suspended if the student’s CGPA falls below the minimum specified to avoid warning and shall be restored upon getting out of warning by improvement in CGPA.
  4. It shall be limited to tuition fee only.

B. External Sponsorships

1. Sindh Government Endowment Board Scholarships

This is offered on need-cum-merit to rural and urban students in both Undergraduate and Graduate level for all disciplines. Scholarship covers full tuition fee for the entire duration of the program, renewable every year. The scholarship quota for rural sector is 60% and for Urban is 40%.

2. ICT Scholarships and Balochistan Endowment Scholarships

ICT Scholarships refer to the Prime Minister's National ICT Scholarship Program, a program by Ignite (formerly National ICT R&D Fund) that provides financial assistance to students pursuing ICT degrees. Balochistan Endowment Scholarships, specifically the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF), aims to support the education of talented students from Balochistan, including those from less privileged backgrounds.

3. Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) Scholarships

The PEEF provides financial assistance to talented and needy students in Punjab and other provinces of Pakistan, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir, FATA, Gilgit Baltistan, and Islamabad Capital Territory. It aims to support students pursuing Intermediate, Graduation, and Master's level degrees. PEEF was established to address the gap in educational opportunities for deserving students by providing scholarships and other financial assistance.

4. Punjab Honhaar Scholarship Program

The Honhaar Scholarship Program, an initiative of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, aims to provide financial assistance to deserving and meritorious students pursuing higher education at universities and colleges in Punjab, Pakistan. The program seeks to ensure equal access to quality education, particularly for those with limited financial resources.

5. HEC Scholarships for MS and PhD students

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) provides liberal scholarships to students desirous of studying for MS and PhD degrees at this university. The scholarship covers tuition fee, monthly stipend, and book allowance.

6. OSAF Scholarships

OSAF (Old Students Association of FAST) arranges financial assistance for those students who cannot afford to pay their full fee.

7. FANA Scholarship

FAST Alumni of North America provide funds for financial assistance for students who cannot afford to pay their full fee.

8. Ihsan Trust Financial Assistance

Ihsan Trust financial assistance for students who cannot afford to pay their full fee.

9. General Refaqat Memorial Scholarship

General Refaqat Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance for those students who cannot afford to pay their fee.

10. Other Scholarships

In addition to the above scholarships there are various community-based scholarships offered by various committees and foundations such as, Memon Community Scholarships, Bohra Community Scholarships, Agha Khan Foundation Scholarships, etc.

11. Repayment of Study Loan

The repayment of loan starts three months after graduation or soon after getting employment, whichever is earlier. The total amount has to be repaid within a period of four years after graduation. Students are required to sign a contract allowing future employers to deduct loan repayments at source and remit it to the University.
