Peshawar Convocation 2005

The 1st Convocation of FAST-NU, Peshawar Campus was held on 31st December, 2005 in order to confer BS (Computer Science) degrees on the students of 1st Batch. Mr. Khalil-ur-Rehman, the Governor of NWFP was the Chief Guest of this ceremony. Following other dignitaries graced the function:- |

Dr. Farooq Ahmad, Director FAST-NU Peshawar Campus welcomed all the guests. In his welcome address he presented the progress of the institute and appreciated the efforts made by its management and staff. He informed the audience that enrollment of this campus was 52 in year 2002 which has now reached to 350 students. Almost 20% of the students are getting financial aid and rupees 4.5 million has been disbursed to the students during financial year 2004-05. He also mentioned that the aspiration and imagination of the University management to establish an excellent academic institution in Peshawar has become a reality and the sapling planted four years ago has bloomed to a mature plant which has started bearing fruit in the form of our graduating class. He appreciated the University’s top management and said that these achievements are because of their vision and strong support. |

While addressing the graduated students, Dr. Amir Muhammad, the Rector told that no matter where they are headed, FAST-NU will remain the wind under their wings and they cannot tear away from the distinct identity that was conferred upon by them, the day they entered this University. He asked the students to uphold the tradition of excellence and integrity. |

|
The Chancellor of NUCES, Mr.Wasim Sajjad who was also present in the occasion emphasized in his speech on determination and perseverance. He asked the students that their courage must not falter in face of toughest competition and harshest adversity. He said that the nation has great expectations from these youngsters and they must strive hard to contribute to the betterment and advancement of the country. |

The honorable Chief Guest, Mr. Khalil-ur-Rehman in his speech said, if we have able leadership, the right conviction, the right attitude and we following certain values specially integrity and work clear conscious then the god also will be with us. He reminded the graduated students of their responsibilities which the degree devolve on them. He told the students that their education does not stop with this degree and they must continue to achieve higher skills of excellence in their respective fields along with their professional careers. Responding to request of Director regarding provision of scholarship to the student the Governor said that he is in touch with Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Chairman Higher Education Commission to sanction scholarships for private universities. At the end of his speech he congratulated the graduated students, their parents and the faculty of FAST-NU, Peshawar Campus on their commendable accomplishments. |

39 students were conferred with BS(Compute Science) degrees in the ceremony. Following top three students received medals. |
