ProCom 2007

ProCom (All Pakistan Programming, Software and Hardware Competition) is a step towards further enforcing the commitment of FAST-NU for the development of IT and other Computer Science related fields in Pakistan. As a distinctive event, it is focused on providing a platform for students to assess their programming skills and to compete for excellence in designing software and hardware. The 8th episode of ProCom is scheduled to be held on 21st and 22nd of April, 2007 at FAST-NU, Karachi campus.

In a world of broadening horizons of Information Technology, ProCom endeavours at meeting the challenge through software and hardware which encompass a major canvas of applications; through novel thoughts and emerging minds. Enter the world of ProCom the 8th!!
Programming Competition :
"Your innovation and style will lead you to a path destined for success"
The Programming Competition is the core most part of the ProCom '07. The event eventually streamlines towards testing the participants' programming skills along with their speed of writing, their geniuses, effectiveness and the capacity to work their way to success in complex situations, as the clock ticks. The participating teams come from various universities, both National and International, providing an intriguing platform for those who wish to prove their mantel in the programming world. This year, the competition gets fiercer with the stakes even higher and the dais more expansive.
If you are an aspiring programmer currently enrolled in a university anywhere around the world, the Competition is open for you to compete. Please scroll down for further information and registration procedures.
Hardware Competition:
"Observe the latest innovations in computer technology and hardware development design"
Hardware competition is designed to testify the skills of undergraduate students in the hardware arena. Its not against the clock, its against other chipped brains of your kind and you have to prove your product as the best and it is also against yourself, against the limits of creativity, productivity and integrity you can achieve.
The hardware competition is a platform that caters to the interest of motivated, ingenious and creative tech wizards. It is aimed at promoting innovations in computer technology and hardware development design. This competition is designed to challenge undergraduate engineers to devise a competitive, creative, strategic, innovative and economic solution to different hardware-related problems pertaining to various fields such as robotics, telecommunication etc. Projects can be either Research Oriented or Application Oriented. Some of the fields of interest could be:
- Controls & Automation
- Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering
- Telecommunication/Microwave Engineering
- Signal Processing
- VLSI Design
Software Competition :
"Bring in your innovation.. and your professionalism, and we'll show you the way to be the next whiz kid on the block!"
The Software Competition is a very prestigious part of the ProCom. Nationwide students and those from the member countries of SAARC participate, bringing in their software projects. Winner are judged and evaluated by highly skilled and competent professionals from the I.T industry. This competition has always provided the students to gain experience and exposure to the world of Science and Technology and its advancements.
Teams from various schools, colleges, and universities can take part in this competition; their software’s are placed before highly skilled market and Research & development leaders for evaluation. The two day event will result in recognition of the best software project in the students' I.T Industry. Furthermore, winners will be awarded with cash prizes.
iCube:
"Innovate, invent and implement"
The thought is basically to make school children think over some cool innovative idea in IT domain, invent something new and implement those ideas either opting board development, or either make an application or simulation that reflects the idea. If the invention results in some hardware device, try to implement that. The major focus is on the idea considerably.
The participants will be divided into 2 groups:
- Group 1: Comprising the students from grade V to grade VIII
- Group 2: Comprising of students from grade IX to grade XII
ach participant will present their inventions to the external evaluators and explain them the innovative accomplishment, the externals evaluators will be the judges of the competition, who will decide the winners of the competition. There will be 5 winners in all. All the participants will get the certificates whereas the winners will get the price money, trophy in addition to the certificates.
Therefore the idea is to present a board model, software application or hardware device. The participants can present in a group of 2-3 people or can present solely.
Gaming competition:
"Kick, Kill and Konquer!"
Gleam up your swords, reload your weapons, tune-up the engines and gear-up for an enduring impression of amusement. By means of pleasure intermingled with terror, experience with patience and decisions with fury this time around happenings won't be the traditions. The contentions will develop when creeds would contradict and underestimations won't be the part of introductions
We are striving to bring on the enthusiasts because we are keen to benchmark the challenges. To conclude it all we are creating a platform or alternatively a battleground to refine the souls from within the souls! We believe that the conclusions would redefine reputation and deference and that glory would be proclaimed by the demonstrators of mercilessness and brutality; because fervor do has agony within its limits!
The Gaming Competition includes
- Counter-Strike
- Fifa 06
- Need For Speed Underground 2
- Warcraft DotA
Network Security Competition:
"Be the savior of the internet by finding all the loop holes"

Network Security Competition will be a 6-hour long competition, in which teams comprising not more than three players will participate and test their skills to the fullest in order to pass each obstacle set for them to win the competition.

The game is designed with a skill set in mind. The game is composed of several stages, each boasting a unique challenge with varying difficulty. In order to clear one stage, teams will have to find a flag, unique on each system, submit that flag via their account on the score server, get points, and proceed to the next stage.
