It is a moment of great honor for FAST-NU that our faculty member Dr. Affan A. Syed, Assistant Professor, Computer Science, Islamabad campus, has been invited as a speaker at the annual Microsoft Research Faculty Summit 2014 to be held in Washington, USA from July 14 to 15, 2014.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates started this summit in 2013. The summit aims at bringing leading academic researchers and educators together with Microsoft researchers and engineers to share ideas and results that relate to some of today’s most exciting new directions. Building on the close collaborations between Microsoft and academia, every track and session is carefully chosen to be at the cutting edge and to present a fascinating view of the world as it will be one day.

This year invited speakers are from some of the leading universities of US including, Yale, CMU, Stanford, Caltech, Princeton and Columbia as well as one of the Computer Science Icons Dr. Leslie Lamport.

Dr. Affan is the only Pakistani who will represent Pakistan and FAST-NU at this highly prestigious summit. He is invited speaker on the first day of summit — in the Track for Devices and Internet of Things sessions. Moreover, he will also address the Lab-of-T hings workshop on the second day of summit.

The faculty and management of FAST-NU are delighted on this achievement and wish Dr. Affan best of luck for the summit.
