Business Case Simulation Case study Competition |
Since its initiation into Nascon, the Business Case Simulation has been a very distinct event. It is strictly professional, and has been very successful over the last 3 years. We have had participation from all the major universities in Pakistan, and this time we intend to make it an international event, as institutions from other countries will also be invited.
By engaging students in business conflicts developed from real events, cases immerse students in the challenges they are expected to face. Challenges that require thoughtful analysis with limited or even insufficient information, that require effective responses within ambiguous circumstances or complex economic and political contexts. That, most of all, demands decisive action that must be articulated – and even defended – among other talented, ambitious individuals.
All this takes place under the guidance of skilled and experienced faculty members from Nu-Fast, who act as moderators and judges through out the case simulation. When students are presented with a case, they place themselves in the role of the decision maker as they read through the situation and identify the problems they are faced with. The next step is to perform the necessary analysis—examining the causes and considering alternative courses of actions to come to a set of recommendations.
During the simulation, the teams and participants will be observed by a panel of judges, who will determine the outcome of this event, and will critically review the arguments made by the participants. This event provides an opportunity for future graduates to interact with professionals from different industries. This event will be a unique learning experience for all the participants. |

Business Plan Competition
The NaSCon Business Plan Contest is providing the premier platform for identifying, nurturing and showcasing entrepreneurial talent from universities all over Pakistan and to provide an integrative learning experience for participating students. It is hoped that business plans developed for the Business Plan Contest will reflect real opportunities. More important is that the participants learn about the new venture creation process through their team's efforts, and their presentations to the judges.

Computer Graphics Competition |
The aim of this competition is to bring together the enthusiasts of computer graphics within Pakistan onto a single platform, wherein they can showcase their work and compare it with those of their counterparts around the country. Participants are divided into teams, of one to three students. There will be two sub-competitions. The first competition which will be held on spot consists of creating an animation or model of the given object. The second competition is to present the work that the teams have submitted before.
Declamation Competition |
The declamation serves as a prime way to uncover intelligent and capable speakers to compete with their arguing and dialogue skills on a national level. Teams from different institutions will compete in a logical and convincing way to represent their institute through extempore and group events. There will be two rounds of the competition. In the first round, all teams will compete. Five teams will qualify from this round to compete in the second round. The topics for both rounds will be given to the teams an hour before.
Dynamic Programming Competition |
The competition will have various teams consisting of two/three members each against eight or more complex, real-world problems, with a demanding five-hour deadline. Gathered around a single computer, competitors race against the clock in a battle of logic, strategy and mental endurance.
Team mates collaborate to rank the difficulty of the problems, deduce the requirements, design test beds, and build software systems that solve the problems under the intense scrutiny of expert judges. For a well-versed computer science student, some of the problems require precision only. Others require a knowledge and understanding of advanced algorithms. Still others are simply too hard to solve - except, of course, for the world's brightest problem-solvers.
Judging is uncompromisingly strict. The students are given a problem statement - not a requirements document. They are given an example of test data, but they do not have access to the judges' test data and acceptance criteria. Each incorrect solution submitted is assessed a time penalty. You don't want to waste your customer's time when you are dealing with the supreme court of computing. The team that solves the most problems in the fewest attempts in the least cumulative time is declared the winner. |
Economic Plan
This Economic Plan will be dealing with the current economic problems prevailing in the world. The topics for the discussion would be the geo-political and socio-economic factors which are the causes for these economic problems in the world.
The main purpose of this event is to let the current generation think outside the box as they are our future think tanks. They should be aware of the decisive economic problems of our world, that shape there future, so they can come up with some possible and practical solution. This would allow the world to think in different and dynamic paradigm. As they say “The foundation of every state is the education of its youth”. This event might be baby step towards an enlightened nation but it can be a landmark.
Students will be given a common topic prior to the event. They’ll be asked to diagnose the problem and give its solution in the format of a presentation.
There will be a panel of judges who will evaluate the students with respect to the content of the solution. Guest speakers can also be invited to present their solutions.
Engineering Problem Solving
The competition will have various teams consisting of two/three members each against eight or more complex, real-world engineering problems, with a tough five-hour deadline. Gathered around a single computer, competitors race in a battle of logic, strategy and mental endurance.
Engineering problems fall into five categories i.e. Electronic Circuits, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Communication and Logic Circuits.
Team mates collaborate to rank the difficulty of the problems, deduce the requirements, design test beds and simulate the results using software tools as LabView, MatLab, Pspice, Keil and ModelSim. The problems will be judged under the intense analysis of expert judges. For a well-versed engineering student, some of the problems require precision only. Others require a knowledge and understanding of advanced engineering concepts. Still others are simply too hard to solve - except, of course, for the world's brightest problem-solvers. Engineering problem solving approach would be appreciated.
Judging is comparitively strict. The students are given a problem statement - not a requirements’ document. They are given an example of test data, but they do not have access to the judges' test data and acceptance criteria. Each incorrect solution submitted is assessed a time penalty. The team that solves the most problems in the fewest attempts in the least cumulative time is declared the winner.

Hardware Competition
This contest invites students from different universities to bring and display their real world hardware projects. All these projects would be competed against each other and the best three projects will be selected among them. |
The projects must have an engineering aspect in them. There must be an engineering logic behind the project whether it is software or Hardware based. The project must not be a pure Computer Science solution.
Evaluation would be merit based. Participants will be given points depending upon the market compatibility of their engineering project, their innovative thinking and the utility to Customers of their projects. Points will also be awarded for the attractive presentations of the projects.
