Convocation 2003
One Hundred and Seventy One smiling faces walked onto the back lawn of National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Lahore campus which was set for the convocation on Saturday, October 25, 2003. The graduates were from batches 1995 through 1998.
Senator Wasim Sajjad- Chancellor, Dr Amir Muhammed- Rector, Lt. Gen. Syed Refaqat-Pro-Rector, Dr Ayub Alvi-Dean, Dr Qaiser Durrani- Director Lahore Campus, Dr Aftab Maroof-Director Islamabad Campus and the Lahore Faculty arrived at 10:00 AM and received a standing ovation from the congregation.
Ms. Summaira Sarfraz was the organizer for the event. She started the convocation of with a prelude and introduced Mr. Saim Saboor who recited a few verses from the Holy Quran.
In his welcome address, Dr Qaiser Durrani reminisced over the good times he has had with the graduating students. He pointed out the overall class personality and congratulated the student whole heartedly.
Dr Amir Muhammed-Rector NUCES, said the first batch of students, receiving degrees in the convocation had been equipped wit modern skills and curriculum and wished them luck in achieving for themselves, their alma mater, and their country in their professional lives. He also informed the audience that FAST was giving Rs 20 million in financial aid to about 300 students in the current year.
The Chief Guest, Senator Wasim Sajjad, who is also Chancellor of the University, said that we succeeded in imparting quality education on self-help basis and this managed to make human resource development. It was a happy augur that reputable educational institutions like NUCES in the private sector have come up which are second to none in the line of international standard institutions. He congratulated the fresh graduates and urged them to work hard and achieve excellence in their profession.
Of the 171 graduates from batch 1995 to 1998 there were 30 graduates who were awarded BCS degrees on behalf of Punjab University, 41 graduates who were awarded 3 year BCS degrees from NUCES, and 80 graduates who received 4 year BS(CS) degrees from NUCES. Medals of Honor were given to 5 students of each batch:
